See and be the change: climate role mode
11.45-12.15 You can’t be what you can’t see – role modelling climate action in communities
Service Description
Dr Laura Fogg-Rogers is Associate Professor for Engineering in Society at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol). As a social psychologist, I explore how to embed theories about groups and communications into practice, developing projects with communities to enable climate action and sustainable development. In this talk, I will outline how role modelling and social -in-group support can be used to maximise change. Drawing on examples from the ClairCity and WeCount projects, I will discuss citizen-led air pollution and carbon emissions reduction in Bristol. I will also look at maximising repair and reuse in the MAKERS project at UWE Bristol, as well as green careers to retrain and upskill our workforce.
